What's the true meaning of the poem 'Rudubg into California' by Shirley Geok-lin Lim?

As a Chinese immigrant she is different and distanced from the others in her new land. She is in Fullerton to work along side others on the oil fields. It is a harsh landscape full of ugly oil rigs. The land and the people are strange to her and she is isolated. She watches Bruce Lee movies just to see others who look like her and her lost land. No one of her race have gone before her so even the ghosts she imagines are not Chinese. All is alien and she is not wanted. Such an alien land seems unreal to her.
